The sight of the American actress Maggie Gyllenhaal playing a British peer of Israeli birth in BBC Two’s The Honourable Woman has been one of the joys of the early summer.
Gyllenhaal is Nessa Stein, an Anglo-Israeli businesswoman who has transformed her father’s arms company into a philanthropic powerhouse in the Middle East.
