You connect your sat-nav to your PC or Mac using the USB cable that came in the box.
If you have lost your USB cable you can get a replacement. Within Garmin Express, selecting 'Install All' under the 'Updates' tab is the safest option.
It is used by the rest of the family and company from time to time chiefly in Johannesburg for business and social trips.
Now I downloaded all the updates and mapinstaller etc etc What I dont understand is it asks me to select 'blocks' off the map in the mapinstaller software , as to what I want to load onto the unit... suddenly I can only load johannesburg and surrounds and my route from gaborone.
- or is that nu Maps guarantee something you need to buy?
Didn't know this was out either, I thought 2009 was the latest until I went to register my wifes new 265wt.
I have no idea what updates have been employed as yet.. the last one I downloaded with my nu Maps guarantee (only on the 19th of March! EDIT: Just downloading them now, and noticed there's a check box to tick to receive emails about future updates at the bottom of the page the download manager is launched from. The firhouse road (R114) has a minor update to it aswell since it was widened awhile back.
For those with newer devices these changes have made it much simpler, for others it can still be a painful process with numerous calls to Garmin technical support.
Am I misunderstanding everything or do I need to now buy like a 2gb memory card to handle more??
Am I now supposed to load the section of map I need for my exact route every time I travel?
A couple of closed down garages are still floating about on the maps also.
Although thats not essential, it's the essential things that matters.
