If you've yet to make the move to i OS 10, or just want to ensure you have the latest version of it on your device, this article is for you: we show you how to make the update quickly, easily and safely.We take you through how to download, install and run the latest version of i OS on your i Phone and i Pad, potential problems you may encounter, and whether you should let Apple update your i Phone or i Pad for you overnight.You can also check your Settings app to see if there’s a small red alert badge, telling you it’s time to update.Even if you don't see the alert, you can manually force your device to update.i OS 10 launched on 13 September 2016, bringing with it a number of new additions and refinements; since then Apple has launched a series of smaller upgrades with patches and minor new features.All have been made available to i Pad & i Phone users for free (assuming your device is a recent enough model to qualify).Without the fix, photos and videos you send to other i Phone users are susceptible to an attack that allows hackers to obtain your encryption key.In order to fully patch the security bug and no longer be vulnerable, every i Phone user you message with has to have also updated to i OS 9.3.
At time of writing that's i OS 10.3.2; if you want to update to i OS 11 (which should be announced on Monday night at WWDC 2017), you'll need to install the beta version instead.
and that is no longer the case for i OS 9 or most of the earlier builds of i OS 10.

Apple delivers its i Phone software updates through i Tunes, so the first thing you should do is make sure you have the most recent version of i Tunes running on your computer.
To update i Tunes, go to the "Help" menu, and select "Check for updates." If i Tunes says you have the most recent version, you're all set to move on to Step Two.
